July 30 - Peg and Linda hiking and quilt shops

This is our first full day alone. Watch out!

Linda made pancakes for us before we headed out on our adventures.

Went hiking in Bridget-Teton National Forest which is very close to our campground. We drove through Greys River Canyon and hiked through the forest for a few miles

Then headed to Jenny M’s quilt shop in Afton, about 30 miles south of Alpine. Cute cute shop with lots of nice fabric. On the way back we stopped in Thayne at a quilt shop that was part of Ace Hardware. Again, a really nice quilt shop.

As we were driving back to the campground, we saw a Bald Eagles nest. We watched it feed the little ones for awhile. Pretty cool.

Then down the road about. Half mile was a second nest. It was all part of a wildlife sanctuary. As the sunset, we headed back to the campground b

July 27, 28 and 29 - Alpine, Wyoming

We are camped along the Snake River in Alpine, Wyoming for 10 days.

John and Kya were the first to arrive and set up their tent on Friday. Then John’s friend arrived Saturday morning. We went to Jackson to pick up Nate and his friend Wyatt. Last to come we’re Shannon and Carl. We really have a crew.

First they laid out their packs to make sure they had everything. Then they thought they had better look at a map. Next was dinner time.

Bill and Nate made a fire, Linda and I emptied our fridge and we all ate dinner. Fun times!

And here is the crew as they get ready to leave for their backpacking adventure in Wind River’s Titcom Basin.

After they left, Linda and I qdecided to go to Wilson to hike the dogs. First we hiked along the Snake River and then headed West through the Teton Pass. Beautiful wildflower hike in the Teton Pass.

This was our wildflowers hike.

The mighty Tetons.

We kept going north into the Tetons and a little bit of Yellowstone. It was a LONG day but stunning views. We’ve had gorgeous sunny weather.

We’ll be back another day to see more of this beaut

July 26 - headed to Wyoming

Travel day from Estes Park Alpine Wyoming with an overnight in Rock Springs.

Some pics along the highway. The topography changes drastically. First was the drive out of Big Thompson Canyon.

Then into Wyoming’s big open spaces. Some serious Snow fence along I-80 in Wyoming.
The

Saw a road sign that said “don’t get bucked off, click your seatbelt.”  I knew I was in cowboy/cowgirl country.

Linda’s seat for awhile.

July 25 - Rocky Mt National Park

Started out early to Rocky Mt NP. Traffic wasn’t too bad.

We got lucky and saw Big Horn Sheep very close the road.

Linda and I took a little hike up the Ute Trail to show her how rocky the trails can be.

More Rocky Mt views.

Drove through Rickey Mt NP to Grand Lake. Another tourist town but cute western architecture. Had lunch at The Rapids, a restaurant right on the river.

Headed back to the campground. Clouds rolled in and had some rain.
