Day 9 - A hike in Muir Woods and drive over Golden Gate

Today was our day to see the redwoods and the Golden Gate Bridge. Love the color of the redwoods. It was quite warm, but with the low to no humidity, it's a different heat. Have to keep using lip balm and cream.

Hillside living. This is the drive on very curvy roads to Muir Woods.

Once we got there, Bill hiked in for about 1.5 hrs. The dogs weren't allowed in and I had already visited this in 1998 so we people watched. Lots of people there.

Found The Redwood Creek Trail that we hiked for about 4 miles through a wooded area and along the creek.

Lenny took a swim in the creek to cool off. Reuben had a drink.

Then it was on to Muir Beach to get our feet in the PacificnOcean.

I kind of forced Reuben to get his feet wet but Lenny loved it. He dove in the waves.

Can you tell how steep this drive was?  Thought of you, Linda.

We were only 15 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge so decided to go there next.

Because there's so much traffic here, you have to either have an E pass or pay a one time fee online. So we paid and away we went.

Traffic was so bad getting home that a 1.5 hr trip took us over 3 hours. We started listening to Bill Bryson's in a Sunburned Country book to pass the time.

Had another delicious dinner at Drew and Erin's of roasted peach salad, Apple and avocado salad and spaghetti squash with Italian sausage and of course ... Lots of wine. Fun times but we were tired.

  1. That road!! I would have been burying my head in my phone so I wouldn't have to look!! Dick would have been looking around and we'd have fallen off the side, hahaha!! Wow, you crossed that famous bridge. Awesome!
